ID Summer Challenges 2020

These challenges were set by the BA Interior Design programme faculty at Regent's University London

Challenge 1:

Recently, due to the pandemic, there has been a seismic shift in the way people are going about their lives, around the world, affecting the ways that we live, work and play. It is likely that many of these adapted ways of living will continue as the world returns to a ‘new normal’.

Use the above as a starting point, as well as your own pandemic experiences to create an image (collage) to convey a new way of living (20 years from today) in 2040. Consider live/work/play.

Dreamscape: 2040

“Harmony”

This Pandemic has re-enforced the notion that if the future of this planet and its inhabitants is to be secured, we must harmonise with the environment, instead of destroying it. Environment stressors like global warming lead to mutations in nature causing unfavourable climate changes and diseases that have never been heard of before. This Pandemic has also made people find comfort in nature, as they seek an escape outdoors while following social distancing norms.

This conceptual collage is my vision for civilisation in 2040.

Going back to the roots, using ancestral knowledge along with technological advances, we can create this dreamscape which adapts and grows along with and in nature.
